Christmas Card Preview

Last night before dinner we managed to "stage" our Christmas card photo. Both of the poodles are very treat focused. You can tell I am dangling milk bones just to the right of the camera. It was also a feat to snap a picture with out Charlie's thumb in his mouth.

Haloween 2008

As you can see Charlie was indeed Yoda for Halloween this year. Chad and I took Charlie to Nana's office building to trick-or-treat (in a controlled environment). I was able to snap this cute picture of him next to some of the decorations in the office. Later that evening Charlie walked to a few houses in our cul-d-sac and trick-or-treated with our neighbors who got a big laugh at our pint sized Yoda. Yes, Mom and Dad ate the candy.

Pumpkin Patch

Today we (Charlie, Dad, Mom, Nana, Uncle Terry, Chubby and Woody) all went to the pumpkin farm up in Thornton, CO. It was about a 30 min drive from the house. Charlie had a great time riding with his pumpkin in the wagon, and the dogs we just happy to be on a trip with us. We managed to bring home two normal pumpkins and one HUGE, 50lb pumpkin for our porch. I've posted a new slide show to the right side of the blog. or you can see it here We'll get around to carving one of them this week.

Daddy's Hat

Last night Charlie was cracking us up by trying on Chad's baseball cap. Don't mind the dirty, snotty, pasta sauce face... If you click on the picture in the post then it opens the image in a big size. This is currently my desktop background.

At the Park

When we were in Tyler two weekends ago for Aunt Laure's baby shower, Chad and Charlie went to the children's park. Olivia took a couple of great shots of him climbing the rocks and getting dirty.

First day of Preschool

Charlie started the Primrose School of Bear Creek this past Tuesday. Daddy only took this ONE picture of a very tired Charlie traveling cross town. So far Charlie likes his new classmates and teacher. The up side is he comes home very sleepy and is usually in bed by 6:30pm these days. He as made the big boy leap to ONE nap a day.

Halloween Preview

Little Charlie Yoda! I hope this outfit still fits by the end of next month...

A visit from John

Long time friend John Cliver came to Denver for a quick visit this past weekend. Charlie warmed up to him and they are now buddies! Here is a slide show featuring some of the fun things we did while John was around. We went to Oktoberfest (in September), hung out at Vicki's for Tracy's going away party and finally had a picnic at Red Rocks on Sunday. I'll p[ost a slide show soon, but for now click here for pictures.

The Alfredo Incident

I think the picture speaks for itself. Charlie was attacked by his alfredo dinner. He looks like such a big boy in this picture even if he is covered in tasty goo!

New House!

Monday night Chad, Charlie and I closed on our first Denver home! Here is a quick picture of the whole family, pups and all, in front of the fireplace in the den.

Buzz buzz buzz

It was time to say good bye to Charlie's fancy hairdo. Dad buzzed him in the bathtub through tears, thrashing and screaming last night. And NO he does not look like a cancer patient.

Captain Blueberry

Remember this little guy who LOVED blueberry baby food?

Well he LOVED the blueberry cobbler last night!

Sleepy Superhero

Mom had a meeting last night and came home after Charlie had passed out from a hard day of playing. He looked so cute in his superman pj's (which are almost too small) surrounded by his stuffy superheros. This picture is for Uncle Brad's desktop background at work!

Back Yard Fun

Sunday night the weather was so nice that we ate dinner out on the back porch. Afterwards Chad and Charlie played in the yard on the slide. Charlie still isn't to keen on going down the slide, but he is all for trying to climb up the incline. Grass is no longer Charlie's enemy. He will walk barefoot in the blades until he realizes he is too far from Mom or Daddy.

Mohawk

So in 16 years when Charlie wants a mohawk, my excuse will be, "You already had your hair like that!" Friday night at Vickie's, between pizza and beer we decided to buzz Charlie's hair. It was looking pretty rough as you can see from the tricycle pictures below. He sat like a good boy in Vickie's lap while she sheared him like a little black sheep. The scull and crossbones t-shirt and camo pants complete his tough guy look. You can see more detailed pictures of his knoggin' here: Mohawk Gallery and the link will be to the side of the blog as well.

Play Time

Nana brought this v-tech talking helicopter toy when she was here a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be the toy of the moment. Charlie has spent 10's of mins. at a time playing with this thing. This video shows that he does have some gross motor skills.

Kettler Trike

I found Charlie a Kettler tricycle on Craigslist and picked it up for him yesterday. He had such a good time being pushed around on his new mode of transportation! I have posted more pictures of the happy man at 1st Tricycle and I am working on adding the slide show to the left hand side of the blog. I really don't know who was more excited by this new toy, Charlie or his mommy!

Punk Rock Charlie

Last week Charlie came home from Vicki's (day care) with spiky pink hair. That coupled with his muscle shirt and short shorts made for quite the show! He looks pretty hard core here on his fire truck. Sitting on the truck is a new thing. He loves to be pushed around the house on it.

Eating Out

Eating out with an independant Toddler is more of chore then a fun event. We recently went to Maggiano's around Charlie's bed time. In the end the only thing that comforted him was knawing on a block of bread.

Standard LBH

That the Little Boy's Haircut. Charlie had his second encounter with Jack and Jill's Salon on Saturday and as you can see form the video above and the new slide show to the left, he enjoyed it just about as much as a baby enima. He does look REALLY cute with his new high and tight Standard LBH. (That's GrandDan's phrase by the way...)

You can see the slide show by clicking here: Standard LBH

Brush-Brusha-Brusha

I never would have thought that we would have to brush a toddler's 6 teeth! When Charlie has garlic pasta for lunch his baby breath is kickin' and as seen above, Dad bravely risks being bit to clean the little tooths! Charlie tolerates this quite well.

Talking up a storm

The other night Charlie toddled into his room, grabbed a book off of the nightstand and began to "read." Chad peaked around the corner to spy and the quickly got the camera so he could take this video. It is a little grainy and dark, but turn up the sound, it is so funny to hear him talk and play with his Goodnight Moon book! Pat Shea, if you see this... Goodnight kittens!

First Baseball Game

This past Sunday Laure, Walker, Chad and I took Charlie to his first baseball game. I don't think he was quite ready for all of that stimulation. I posted a few pictures in the slide show on the left. The poor kid didn't stand a chance after mommy smeared sunscreen all in his eyes. It was down hill from there! Link to First Game Pictures

New Slideshow pictures

I have finally gotten around to posting the pictures from Charlie's birthday and Easter. For some reason I cannot add another slide show to the left on blogger... I'll have to resolve that later. For now here are the direct links

A day in the life Easter 2008
1st Birthday

Learning to eat with a spoon

Tonight at dinner we tried giving Charlie his own spoon to feed himself yogurt. At first he had the spoon in his hand and he kept offering it to Chad like he wanted to feed his Daddy the yogurt. Over all it went surprisingly well!

Mis-Adventures in walking

Is it wrong that we all three (Dad, Mom and Nana) laugh hysterically when Charlie falls down when trying to walk? At least Spiderman came out unscathed.

Charlie WALKS!

Mark it! Today Charlie took his first steps. We didn't get the best ones on camera but, he actually turned around and walked about four or five steps to get to a toy that Chad had in his hand. Take a look at this video and I will post another one here soon. I think we will spend all day videoing this child falling on his face.

Bath Time

Bath time is just more fun with bubbles!
If you click on the picture (Nana) the original image size is just right for a desktop background. Oh, and the cradle cap is back and we live in an arid climate, yea!

Charlie Plays Ball

You have to love it when kids reach the age where they can entertain themselves. From this video I think we are REALLY close!

New Slideshow

I have posted a new set of pictures from this weekend. We went to Breckenridge for the day and stopped in at this fantastic toystore that had an inside play area. Charlie had a great time playing on the dinosaur slide and snake trampoline with Chad. I will add the slide show to the left hand side of the blog, but until I get that working here is the link to the picassa album. Breckenridge Fun

Hide - n - Seek

This video cracks me up! Charlie has gotten to that point where hide and seek is the coolest thing ever! In this video Charlie is on the other side of the couch from Chad and he leans out on his little baby legs to play with Chad and the camera.

Baby's First Head Wound

Hopefully CPS won't find this post and come after us... Charlie fell off of the couch last weekend and hit his head on the coffee table. It produced this HUGE goose Egg on hi little noggin'. Charlie is seen in the picture below clutching his "Boo-Boo-Bunny" ice pack and looking pathetic.

Charlie's First Haircut

Today was Charlie's first haircut! As you could see from his one year pictures he REALLY needed a big boy haircut! I have posted the pictures from "Jack and Janie's Salon" to the slide show portion of his blog and to picassa web albums here: http://picasaweb.google.com/ahickerson/FirstHaircut It's a good thing he is too little to remember the torture we put him through today. He looks so handsome!

One Year Pictures

Charlie's 12 month pictures from last week can be viewed by clicking the link below and entering the Customer Name, Angela Hooper: Smiles By Wire - JCPenny's

We purchased E2, E3. E4, E5, E6, P8 and P19 that we will have to give out in a few weeks. Brad was in town for the picture session so we took the opportunity to do a few with Charlie and his uncle in matching superman shirts. They turned out great! And as you can see from above, Charlie's new Superman Stuffy (it's not a doll... boys don't have dolls) matches perfectly.

The pictures from his actual birthday are in transit. His Aunt Olivia took all of the good ones of him digging into frosting and cake. As soon as I have them I'll post them out to the google pictures site and hang a new slide show up.

Charlie's big boy chair

Grandmommy sent Charlie his birthday present a little early. Above Charlie is lounging in his new big boy chair. When we opened the box he started clapping. it was really cue.

You will see a blank video until you hit the play button in the bottom left hand corner of the video box.

New Slideshows

Last weekend we walked down to the Tot park in our neighborhood and Charlie enjoyed his first time on a swing set. I have posted the slide show to the left on the blog. Check out the other new slide show called Playtime.

11 Month Pictures

Charlie's 11 month pictures from last week can be viewed by clicking the link below and entering the Customer Name, Angela Hooper: Smiles By Wire - JCPenny's

We purchased E17, P5, P10, P15 and a lot of P23 that we will give to family. Next month I want to do something with a cake that is very messy and fitting for his first birthday.

Also I plan on fixing the broken movies, but between work, pink eye, and the flu, it's been on the back burner.

Unconventional Walker

All of the "experts" say that using a walker is bad for babies. Well we have one of the most primitive walkers around. Take a look at Charlie pushing the stool around the kitchen.
Video Content:

Crusin'

Charlie is really starting to Cruise around the furniture. We keep trying to knock him over so he doesn't learn to walk yet. Mommy and Daddy just aren't ready for that yet

Thank you Courtney Harvey for emailing this picture of Charlie. Courtney takes fantastic portraits and we are lucky to have this one.

This video is older, but still very funny. It captures Charlie's Laugh and our old bath time ritual.

First time baby blogger

As hokey as this is, we wanted to create a place on the web where we can post a bunch of pictures and videos of our son Charlie. This page will be under construction.
