Welcome to the Hooper Scoop!
I started this blog when our first son, Charles Jay (Charlie), was born so that friends and family could stay in touch, at least virtually. The Blog has been a helpful tool in chronically Charlie's Cancer journey as well as tracking the milestones of our second Son, Daniel James, our daughter, Ana Bradley and our newest addition Michael Edward.
Through out the years technologies such as facebook and iChat helped to connect us with friends and family even more. Hopefully we can look back on this as a digital baby book for the kids. I do enjoy looking back through the posts and remembering the events
Meet the Hoopers
The Hooper Family began at a small Catholic High School in the East Texas town of Tyler. By the fortune of the alphabetic proximity of their surnames, Angela Hickerson and Chad Hooper sat next to each other in Chemistry class. They dated for awhile, broke-up and went their separate ways for college. Angela attended Notre Dame University to study Business Information Systems and Chad went to Texas A&M to study, of all things, Chemical Engineering. Not long after graduating, Angela and Chad met up again in Chicago at the wedding of one of their high school friends and they never looked back.
Charlie was born in Tyler, Texas in March of 2007 and was named after his great-grandfather with whom he shares a birthday. Later that year Chad and Angela decided a change was in order and moved to Denver. In April 2010, the joy of the impending arrival of the Hoopers’ second son, Daniel was stolen as Charlie, at the age of three, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. The next three and half years of Charlie’s life would involve chemotherapy. Charlie continually amazes his parents with his ability to cope with the strain put on his body. It is no over-estimation to say that he has become their hero and role-model. Charlie has kept the cancer in remission and has a good prognosis for a full recovery.
Daniel was born in June, 2010 and amidst all the turmoil of Charlie’s life provides the comic relief that the Hooper Family needs. He is always good for a laugh and earned the nickname “Dan-zilla” due to his bull-in-a-china-shop personality. Daniel’s status of middle child was achieved at the tender age of 16 months when his sister Montana “Ana” Bradley was born in November, 2011. Upon her arrival, Ana provided a much needed calmness and estrogen-boost for the Hooper Family. we rounded out the family a few years later with Michael, the happiest baby we've ever met!
The Hooper family enjoys visiting cousins, playing in the backyard and taking walks. Angela enjoys gardening, blogging and collecting art. Chad enjoys biking, golfing and photography. Charlie enjoys whacking golf balls with dad, riding bikes and anything super-heroes. Daniel enjoys climbing on everything and jumping off anything and impressing everyone with his ability to remember names and events. Ana enjoys hoarding as many stuffed animals in her big girl bed as she can and chasing her brothers around. Michael enjoys growling and being tickled and hugged.
