We found another great park to take the kids, Westland park in Greenwood Village. Next time we need family pictures we need to go there. Very pretty and cool playgrounds, ponds and trails.

Charlie's End of Chemo Party

So last weekend we had a bunch of family and friends over to help Charlie celebrate the end of active treatment for ALL.  Three years ago we started this journey and it was time to let loose and have a good time.

The kids had great time bouncing in an awesome Robot Bounce House, getting their faces painted by Happy the Clown and watching Happy's Magic Show.  Undoubtedly, the unexpected hit of the day was G-Deb and Gary's gift to Charlie which was the kiddie roller coaster.  Every kid had blast riding that thing up and down and our lawn has the tracks to prove it.

Charlie had a fantastic week with all of his friends and family and we thank all of you who travelled great distances to show your support for Charlie's achievement.  For Angela and I, this party was as much about thanking all of you in our lives that helped us get through these years as it was about celebrating Charlie.  For those of you who were unable to attend, our thanks go out to you for keeping Charlie in your thoughts and prayers over the last three years.  Without all of you this would have been 100 times more difficult and I believe Charlie would not have weathered it as greatly as he did.

We had kids before being married you know... they are the 4 legged, furry kind! Chubby and Woody don't get many posts here on the blog, so when we received these pictures from the Kennel after they were boarded for the party, I had to post them. Love my pups!

Graduation Meltdown

Look at that sweet face...all posed and perfect. The photographer had no idea the meltdown that would ensue when Charlie actually had to don the cap and gown for real and graduate.

A few weeks before, his class began working on the songs and things they were going to say for the big ceremony. Charlie would come home and say, "I'm never going to graduate." We just laughed it off as a grumpy mood.  Then Friday, June 14th came. Grand-dan, Garney, Aunt Geri, Nana and Miss June all came to the school to watch the big event, only Charlie was not in the line up. I took him to the gathering room with the other children and he broke down crying saying he didn't want to graduate! I think it was stage fright, but whatever it was, his stubborn, Hickerson genes kicked in and he refused to participate! I (Mom) was SO ANGRY. Charlie and Chad spent the entire time out in the van in isolation while the rest of us watched the graduation and supported Miss Melissa and the other Primrose staffers who worked so hard to put things together. My anger soon faded and I know this will be one of those memories we laugh about in 12 years. Hopefully he gets over this fright and manages to graduate from High School with less drama.
