First Dip in the Pool

Yesterday Chad, Mary and I took Charlie up to Willowbrook for his first dip in the pool. I have a pool pouch from hotslings so Charlie was right at home in his sling as we waded into the pool. We stayed out there for 4+ hours. Charlie napped and the adults ate lunch and read chapters of Hary Potter and the Deathly Hallows. We are hoping to enroll in water baby classes at the end of this month. The Water baby classes are for babies 6 months and older here at the TJC swimming pool.

Batman

Charlie has these fantastic onsies from Six Flags that he received as a gift from Casey and Kelly Heying (owners of buymetoys.com) This past weekend we dressed him up as batman while Uncle Brad was in town for the Baptism. Charlie looks so serious as the Dark Knight, don't you think? There are more pictures of Charlie as Batman and of his baptism under Angela's Picassa Web Album (look for link to the right).

A Tired Mommy

Well two and a half months have flown by since Charlie was born and this is my official first week back at work. Yesterday was the first day of day care and I CRIED all day after leaving him. I never thought I would be such a sappy parent. Chad said that I am cute when I am weepy :) I realized that I have neglected my blog and need to get back to it. This tired mommy needs to carve out a little non-baby time so I can read whats going on in the world and then make fun of it all in my blog postings. For now I will post links to the latest and greatest web photo albums and shamelessly promote my offspring.

Welcome Charlie

Charles Jay Hooper (Charlie) was born on 3/22/07 weighing 7lbs 8oz and was 20 1/2 inches long. We had what has been described as a "hard and fast labour." Contractions started at 3:00am on Thursday. By the time we were admitted at 8am I was dilated to 8cm and received an epidural. By 11am I was 10cm and ready to push, but little Charlie never "dropped" into the birth canal after 5 hours of pitocin and intermittent pushing. Charlie was born at 6:02pm by C-Section. Chad and I are both home and learning the ropes of new parenthood. A big THANK YOU to our friends, family and co-works for being so supportive and for welcoming Charlie into the world. He has many friends that I can't wait for him to meet. We hope to start having visitors at the end of the week (3/30/07), give us a call if you would like to stop by.
